AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Trucking Association (TXTA) statement regarding the new Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS).   

“TXTA congratulates Freeman Martin on his appointment as the new Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety. Martin's extensive experience, from his start as a Texas Highway Patrol trooper to his leadership in the Texas Rangers, makes him well-suited for this critical role. TXTA looks forward to continuing our strong partnership with TxDPS under Martin's leadership. Our collaboration with law enforcement is vital in maintaining road safety, which is paramount to the trucking industry. We are confident that this appointment will further strengthen our joint efforts to ensure the security and efficiency of Texas roadways.  

TXTA would also like to commend Colonel Steve McCraw for his exemplary leadership over the last 15 years as the Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
